3. Ask about engineering and wiring
Expect the structural questions early. California's building and energy code, Title 24 included, applies statewide, and seismic anchorage is a standard requirement here, so a pole or monument sign generally needs footing and attachment details stamped by a California-licensed engineer. Canyon wind exposure can factor in as well. An illuminated sign usually needs a separate electrical permit on top of the sign permit.
